OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - REMINDER

REMINDER - OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD CLOSES MONDAY 19TH OCTOBER.

 

This year, all students are invited to participate in Operation Christmas Child which is a project of Samaritan's Purse. Its goal is to bring joy to children in some third world countries by giving each child a decorative shoebox filled with small gifts at Christmas.

To participate, please bring in a gift, unwrapped and new from your stage category, between the 6th and 19th October. Last Day is Monday 19th October.

Child's ages can range from 2 – 4, 5 – 9 and 10 – 14 years. Here are some suggestions.

 

Kindergarten - Something to love

Small soft toys, teddy bears, squeaky toys

 

Year 1 - Something Special

Sunglasses, cap, stickers, bangles, necklaces, a musical instrument, small craft kits, carry bags, pouches.

 

Year 2 & 3 - Something to play with

Tennis/rubber balls, cars, skipping ropes, yo yos, slinky, finger puppets, wind up torch.

 

Year 4 – Something for school

Exercise books, pencils, pens, pencil case, crayons, sharpeners.

 

Year 5 – Something to wear

Mixed sizes from 2 – 14. Undies, thongs, sandals, t-shirts, shorts, caps, beanies, skirt & dresses.

 

Year 6 – Personal Hygiene items

Toothbrush, comp, soap, face washer, hairbrush, hair ties, hair scrunches.

 

LIST OF PROHIBITED ITEMS

Items that leak or melt – toothpaste, shampoo, bubbles, batteries, play dough

Food or lollies – Including vitamins and medicines

Us or Damaged items – including clothing and toys

Any breakable items – Glass, porcelain & mirrors

Any item that can scare or harm a child – knives, war-related toys, toy guns, toy planes, tanks etc.,

Any gambling items – play money, playing cards & dominoes

Anything of a religious or racial/political nature

 

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE CONDITIONS ABOVE ARE FOLLOWED

 

Stage 3 students will be packing the boxes.  If you have forgotten your items, a gold coin is appreciated to contribute towards postage as each box costs $9 to send.
