School Athletics Carnival

 

 

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL - WEEK 2, 27th  JULY 2012

 


Brisbania Public School Athletics Carnival has been organised for the Friday, 27TH July 2012.  The carnival is being held at MINGARA REGIONAL ATHLETICS CENTRE, Mingara Drive, Berkeley Vale. Students will be involved in a range of athletics events including shot put, discus, running, long jump, high jump and mini games.

 

All children K-6 and all staff will participate in this carnival.  Therefore, there will be no supervision for children who come to school not intending to go to the carnival.

The buses will be leaving school after the rolls have been marked; approx 9.10am and will return to school in time to catch the afternoon buses. The carnival will begin at approx 9.30am.  All parents are invited to attend however an entry fee will apply into the Regional Athletics Centre.  Children will need to wear their sports uniform, with a T-Shirt of the house colour they are in.

 

Koala - Yellow

Platypus - Red

Kangaroo - Green

Wombat - Blue

 

 

Children will need to wear a hat and sunscreen, bring a tracksuit/jumper, raincoat/jacket (clearly labelled), recess, lunch and adequate drinks. We can't always guarantee the weather around our carnival time.  It is always a good idea for the children to pack something waterproof to sit on.

 

All K – Year 2 children will wear their house and name tags that will be provided by their class teacher.  K – Year 2 participate in athletic skills and mini games throughout the day including their 50m age races.

 

A canteen will be run by Mingara Recreational Club on the day.  The canteen will have available various foods such as pies, sausage rolls, cans of soft drink, bottled water, juice, tea and coffee to purchase.

 

PLEASE REMEMBER NO NUT or EGG PRODUCTS

ARE TO BE TAKEN TO THE CARNIVAL.

 

All children will travel by bus tothe venue, leaving school at 9am.  Children need to be at school by 8.50am for roll marking.  Buses will return to school by 2.30pm. The cost of bus travel and entry will    be $7.00 per child.  Please return the money and complete the permission details before WEDNESDAY 25th JULY 2012.

 

If you are attending the carnival and wish your child to go home with you at the end of the day, please ensure you see the relevant class teacher to have your child's name marked off the roll.

 

Parent helpers are needed for both the K-2 and 3-6 carnivals. If you would like to help, please complete the permission note that will be sent home this week.
